As title phone wont pair with car. It did when I first bought the motor and has worked fine for many years. Now it's stopped working and refuses to pair. Message on phone says it cant find anything to pair with and car is saying searching. I am using the passcode which came with the car and worked first time I connected this same phone Any suggestions please as to what might have gone wrong.

It has stopped working and you are trying to pair with the SAME phone and NOT a different phone? There's a limited number of phones that will work with early Jaguar Bluetooth.
Checking in the Parts Catalogue, it looks like X-Type continued to the end of production with the same 'single phone' Jaguar Bluetooth that was in my 2005 XK8 and was not updated to the later 'multi-phone' type I had in my 2007 XK. If I'm correct in this assumption, you will have to clear the association with the phone and start again.
Use the disconnect code ##3#*# and press the PHONE SEND/END CALL button to disconnect any previously paired phone. Then setup the phone again using the Discovery Code ##1#*# which should appear in the Audio Unit display. If it does not appear, press the C/TA button repeatedly to clear any previously keyed entries. Ten presses should be sufficient then repeat discovery.
