Default Which Car to buy

In the next month I'll be trading my 911 for a new mommy mobile, while she will be driving it most of the time I'll still have some seat time behind the wheel. What i'm looking for is a reliable car that's still fun to drive and maybe a little mod friendly but we do need something that will be easy for her to get a baby out of the back. Was thinking another XKR but no unsure do to it being a coupe. So any suggestions?

Would it be too obvious to suggest an S-Type or XJ8?
There are plenty of fast, fun four door cars out there if you decide you don't want a coupe. There's the Mazda 3, the Dodge Charger, just about any BMW, the Pontiac G8, the Chevy SS, the Ford Taurus SHO...the list goes on and on.

Frankly, I would NOT recommend the XK8. Have you seen the back seat in those things? Anything bigger than a grapefruit, and you won't have room back there for it. Getting a car seat back there would probably involve violating at least two or three laws of physics!

Well as far as fast goes, my AMG handles that, but my wife hates "fast" but the new sedan Jag that just came out looks great so may go drive one, but also may put a F150 on the list because I have a feeling we will be buying alot of **** in the next few months

Default Which car?

Greetings shelby408 ... and what a great question. I agree earlier comments re XKR. Apart from the "marque of distinction" of the Jag over its German rival, where is the advantage over the limitations of the 911? I share the XKR passion ... indeed searching for one now ... but as a toy to replace our S1 E-Type ... not as an everyday shopping trolley! Nor do I sense an absolute flight to the practical if it is at the expense of performance. Perhaps the S-Type (I'm realley biassed), later F-Type or Jaguar's new kid on the block.

My wife's passion, with our three children in tow was the deliciously long, low, elegant and wickedly quick V12 Daimler VanDen Plas. Good luck with your hunt and please post back to let us know what you and your "mommy" opt for.

Best wishes,
Ken

Shelby, if you are willing to pay for an XKR, might as well simply step over to the XJR. They share a lot of the same components, but one is 2 door, the other is 4 door. Even a supercharged XJ would be very much in the realm of the XKR (granted, would be shy on power by about 40 or so). If you are worried about room, then you get the XJL (extra 8 inches between the wheels which all of it ends up in leg room between the back of the front seats and the rear seats).

If you are looking at the F-150, your options there for out of the box power are fairly limited as the Lightning model has gone away along with the Harley Davidson versions. So, with that, if you are looking at big power, then you are looking at about $10K in supercharger/exhaust/tune. Granted, the initial vehicle is much cheaper, by the time you are done, you can easily get up to near what a similar Jag would run.

If I do choice a truck It will be a platinum eco boost 4x4 or a limited, not looking for power or to have an equally fast or speed demon looking for comfort kid friendly and reliable. 50k is about the realm for a F150 that I like just havn't looked in on something yet.

I have been asked this before.

The cars/trucks/etc mentioned all have their merits.

The variable here is that the kids grow up, and that seat becomes less used (unless you keep busy HAHA), so then rear leg room becomes paramount.

I always suggest JAGUAR, but I am a tad biased.

I have V12's forever, and the current V6 S is sooooooo nice, and when asked, has some serious Mumbo. OK, the kids are long gone, so Mum and me.
