Default The heat variable

Do you guys think it make sense to extend this troubleshooter with such variable as a high ambient temperature? I’m experiencing the difficult start in hot weather right now - will go through all the steps and see if I find the source of the problem.

In order to better help you, you might tell what year and model your Jaguar is, as well as where you live, as your elevation as well as temperature can be a factor.

Hi 67E, my jag is the 96 4.0 Coupe, one of the first exemplars. I live in Switzerland at around 400m (1,300 ft). I found few threads describing problems similar to mine ( difficult start then runs fine), but they don’t have the heat factor involved. My Issue activates at around 25 degrees Celsius so we are not talking extreme temperatures either.

Welcome to the Forums.

When the beast is sorted please do an Intro in the New Members Area.

I suggest a re-ask of this in the XF (X250) Tech Section, down the home page a tad further.

Being a diesel, I have NO idea, but the members in there with Diesels will have answers.

Good luck.

Welcome to the forums Dianne,

You have already followed a logical course of troubleshooting and eliminated the most likely causes. The "engine system fault" warning will have been displayed because a relevant DTC (Diagnostic Trouble Code) has been set. To determine stored or pending codes requires Jaguar Diagnostics or a compatible code reader.
