Default change steering boots with no alignment needed

Was looking for some replacement steering boots for another car and stumbled across these.

Products That Work

really clever I thought. I'm working on a bit of an orphan model from 1960 so specific parts are sometimes hard to get. This one is available but the ease of fitting sold me.

Interesting.

Need to stretch a fair bit to get the tie rod end thru a potential 10mm hole?.

Dunno.

There is a video on their site and on youtube

They use a sleeve/condom over the link/tie rod, lubricate with engine oil, lubricate the inside of the boot and slide it over, toss the sleeve. Amazing that its elastic enough to do both things, interesting material.

Anyway I pick a pair up tomorrow, so I will find out if there video matches my reality.

JAGUAR STYPE R:2003. All front headlights look scratched but not yellow. I have had them "professionally" buffed but they look more scratched than before! Can anyone tell me how they can be restored? Alternatively, if I have to change ALL (four) headlights, where can I buy the set and not get gouged? Dealership wants over 2K to change all four to brand new ones, not including installation!

Just to finish this off, I couldnt make them work as per the video.

Two issues, basically I couldnt keep the work area clean enough to oil the liner /sleeve but keep the outside clean t get a grip. Once I got close the boot was stretched too thin for comfort over the grease nipple and I thought it would tear.

Thought about taking off the grease nipple and then thought if I am going to start undoing stuff it sort of defeats the purpose. So , I just did them the normal way by removing the rod ends.

They would probably work well on modern rod ends with no grease nipples.

Sheesh! You guys down there get ALL the good stuff! I was under wifes Mom-van and noticed a disintegrated inner boot. Not sure how long its been that way-- A couple of months maybe. And van is at 210k, so i got new rod ends and boots.
