Charging system advice
I have a 1967 mk2 340 that has an alternator system just like an e type. The car is positive ground with a Lucas alternator (11AC), remote regulator (4TR), alternator relay (6RA) relay ignition relay (3AW) for the ignition light.
The ammeter reads neutral at idle and a slight charge with increased speed and the voltage at terminal B does increase with increased RPM to 14-15 volts.
Should it keep running with a battery cable disconnected (engine dies out until it is reconnected)?
Will it do any harm if the 3AW ignition light relay is disconnected (missing)?
I am considering replacement with solid state 3AW (38706X). Does anyone have any experience with this relay?
Thanks,
Ron

Hello Ron . . . and greetings from a Jaguar enthusiast down under. I just noted that your questions haven't provoked a response . . . and I fear that's because they really are far too specific to have attracted the attention you need in this General Tech forum.
I suggest you jump over to the model specific forum for your Mk2/340 and repeat your questions there. Our tech gurus who have highly specific knowledge you seek will thereby see it and be able to respond.
Best wishes,
Ken
