So far I have used the Mongoose & SDD for jobs on X350 XJ's;
Lowering the ride height of the air suspension
Reprogramming a North American radio to Europe frequencies
Reflashing the transmission & clearing the adaptations
Reflashing the restraints modules to clear airbag warning lights
Turn off the beep when the car locks/unlocks
Clear the ECU adaptations after changing the intake piping
Read and clear fault codes beyond the regular P codes that a generic codereader can't
Reflash various modules on a mates car that were not working...
It can do plenty more, but that's all i've needed it for so far...

The installs were left a long time to instal so I think they finished.
I think both versions of the 130 I have must have something missing for IDS to function. There are no errors in event viewer and so far not found any other logs in SDD
Will have to try and find 129 as it will do for me and try that.
TT

There are many ways to attack this, think about it and let us know.

As this thread is dedicated to a single dealer level tool, a more complete understanding can be found by also reading the "member approved scan tool" thread which deals with the complete range of possibilities.
As a synopsis, the dealer level tool is the only feature complete tool, the most difficult to install, and has the ability to brick your car if used improperly. The simplest standalone tools need no installation, will read engine codes and allow code reset. They cannot brick your car.

My Drew Technologies Mongoose (genuine) arrived today and I'm having software troubles. My laptop is XP, service pack 2 and I first installed the SDD_DVD131FULL.exe file (Ebay DVD). It loaded, I entered the username and password and it seemed happy, the SDD application launched and looked right.
Then I installed the DVD supplied by Drew and it loaded, then ran the SDD_DVD131.01 file, as instructed in the V131 instructions. Rebooted as necessary, and the internet access was turned off, said no when it wanted me to update.
Now when I click the JLR SDD icon to lunch the program I get the small box telling me to only have one browser session, and then a white screen comes up with Directory:/ in bold and WEB-INF/ 0 bytes and the date /time after it. No opening splash screen for SDD at all, which I had before I installed the Drew drivers.
I do have the green VCI manager icon, and it recognized the mongoose and says its is ready for use. When I was doing the installs, the LED on the mongoose went green, indicating it was communicating with the cable, now it alternates red and green flashing.
Any ideas what I've done wrong?

Hello Jagboi64,
Disclaimer: I'm not a computer expert. So I just keep trying and re-reading.
Two versions are now working very well on different, dedicated HDs.
Note: I understand that remnants of a failed program may disable subsequent program loads. Reloaded Xp several times before everything worked correctly. There is a routine, sourced from Ford, to clear the remnants when things go awry. Too late for my use, so haven't tried it.
From the begining:
(assumes clean HD)
Xp Sp2/3
adobe reader (internet connection required for download, then shut off internet.)
mongoose driver (before other programs.)
Then, IDS/SDD:
(Extracted from download site 06/12
5. Run the current FULL IDS_DVD***_FULL.exe Installation file
6. Re-Boot machine (After reboot please allow any firewall pop-ups full access)
7. Run the current VDF_DVD***_V*.exe Installation file
8. Re-Boot machine
9. Download all available Software Updates and run in numerical order.
10. Download and run the current SPA Pinpoint tests
Data files are required as is Adobe reader. Xp SP3 has not been a problem here.
A dedicated hard drive (not just a partition) is worth the cost/effort.
Good luck.

I uninstalled and reinstalled IDS/SDD and was able to get it working! Went out to the car and it recognized the VIN and I was able to see some thing, but not as much as I would have thought. I still see no way to change the radio frequencies from UK to Canada, but at least I was able to remove the secondary wipe after running the washers. That was extremely annoying!

Finaly.....
After installing on an old work Windows 7 Laptop... I got a group policy issue when starting IDS , Darn!
After re-installing Win7 Enterprise, then doing each install and testing it worked to IDS ( it did ) I got to the end with it still working
That was last night.
Thismorning I went out in the cold, and it connected to the car, found a bunch of non engie related DTC's which I need to look into at some point.
And I found that Cruise control is already enabled... So there must be a fault elsewhere preventing it from coming on...
I also found the option to enable the horn on arm/disarm. but unfortunatly I think trying to set this has wiped the setting for the remote control and I can't seem to get that to re-program to the car.
So a big success and a bit of a fail ...

This thread is an extension of that discussion in that it is centered on three things:
1. the physical interface being a Mongoose clone
2. the Jaguar specific software SDD/IDS
3. installation of the hardware and software
The methods of obtaining #1 and #2 are contained in various posts.
The search term "mongoose" will bring up all of the few threads on JF on the subject as it is a relatively new topic.
