Code
Hello, I thought I was going to get my Jag running after i put in a new fuel pump, That is what I get for thinking. It is getting fuel. the dash says fuel 69 - fuel failure 69. It is not getting to the injectors, I can put a little eather to it, and it will fire, but won't start. HELP! Thanks, Darel

RE: Code
Darel-
When you post a question of this nature, you REALLY need to add the year and model of your car in question. Jag varied the location of modules and sensors and system "logic" throughout the years (even for cars that were essentially the same models such as 88-94 XJ6). In case you're dealing with a 88-94 XJ6, XJS or similar, I can tell you that code 69 the "Drive/Neutral switch input circuit". The ECM looks for an input from this switch and adjusts idle speed accordingly (the idle speed in D is lower than N, apparently). The ECM gives a code 69 if gear selector is not in P or N when started. This code can also be caused by a low batt., gearshift cable misadjusted, transmission switch misadjusted, etc.
Good Luck,
Greg

RE: Code
Thanks for getting back Greg, I have a 1991 XJ6 4.0 that I bought off my cuzzins grandson. He said it was running just fine when he turned it off. An our or so later he went to start it and it would not start. They put a new battery, new injectors, new plugs, new plugwires, dist. cap,and roter and still could not get it to run. His dad said he had spent enough and was done, so it has been sitting for the past 3 years. I started messing around with it after I got it, I had to replace the fuel pump, the gas tank had two or three gallons of water in it, and the new injectors were gomed up from the water. The drain hole was pluged and the gas cap was broke.Any way, the code fuel 69 - failure 69 was becuase the injectors was not letting fuel in, I cleaned the injectors and the are squirting fuel now.Now it still will not start, it will fire, but not start. When I turn the key on nowand touch the vcm button now it says Fuse 1, It has me ready to pull what hair I have left out. Darel
