Putting this on the off-topic board as this may pertain to other models than my X350. While driving home today I noticed my nav system stopped operating. It had a location about 30 miles or so where I was actually at. I tried to change the zoom but had no effect as it appeared to have locked up the screen. At a light I turned the ignition off and re-started the car since to me it seemed as though a process got hung. I then got the "DVD installed not a map DVD" message. At my destination I ejected the DVD, wiped it off a bit and then re-installed it. When I re-started the car, everything worked fine. The way it reacted it seemed to me to be more of a software issue than a DVD issue.

I've moved your thread from Off Topic to General Tech Help forum where it will get more views. It's definitely 'on topic' for Jaguar forums.
The only similar reports I can recall reading on the forum have been where members have tried using aftermarket DVD's so this sounds like a new issue.

Could be laser alignment in the unit. After a period of time, with all the heat and excessive knocking and bumping that happens at the back of the vehicle the laser may move out of alignment and need adjusting to read the CD correctly.
There is mention of it in a thread on the forum. It doesn't go into too much detail about how to adjust the laser though.
** I just found this on Youtube and would like to say this is generic and NOT specific to the Jag Alpine units..*** It explains what I am talking about above.
