As I said in the PM some time ago.
It is what it is, and a "double six" is what it is, soooo, bank "A" as we have it, was maybe the prime "bank", and the "B" was siamesed into it, and the engineering logic meant little in the mid '60's.
Pulling a plug to confirm what it is will put your mind at rest, and do no harm anyway.
I gave up loooong ago trying to analyse why any manufacturer did what they did, and just enjoyed the car on the day. If it bugged me that much I got rid of it.
Time for a drink me thinks.
