Default Early sign of coolant leak

Was giving the engine bay a once over visually and noticed my coolant a bit below the minimum mark. Have not had any cooling issues, temps remain stable. I noticed one of the little coolant hoses collecting orange gunk but no puddles.

Looks like the start of a problem. What you think?

I do find it odd that jag decided to use what appears to be thin rigid tubing everywhere.... hell of a lot more tuning than my 1.8t has. Seems like the rigid tube design will also be a very fragile point in even the slightest bumper to bumper contact, if that was ever to happen.

Anyone know of a creative way to replace this hose without having to drain a bunch of coolant? I'm guessing anything that is above this hoses fluid level would drain out and I could just top it back up. So no need to drain the whole system I suppose.

The AJ126 has several known coolant system failure points:
  • Water outlet pipes under the supercharger
  • Heater pipe at back of cylinder heads
  • Pipe from coolant reservoir to water outlet
There are aluminium replacements for the water outlet pipes to eliminate that as a cause of coolant loss.

Post your enquires on the X760 forum as those members are familiar with your vehicle.

Jaguar's extensive use of plastic cooling system components on modern models is one of their greatest weaknesses. Cheap and easy to install at the factory but degrade with age and the constant heating/cooling cycles in use.

You certainly need to keep an eye on that hose and connector as overheating is a Jaguar engine killer. They are "low volume / high flow rate" cooling systems which can dump coolant very quickly when a hose fails and the engine temperature rockets in no time.

It could be just the photo but that coolant looks suspiciously thick. OAT coolant should be a dense liquid but that appears almost gelatinous ........
