A T4 unit is hard to find (trust me, I know ), but luckily there are several alternatives like Lynx, Hawkeye, Auto Enginuity to name some. But I guess you are better off on a Land Rover forum for that.
After 8 years of sporadic usage, the screen is now giving me some trouble. When powering on, the screen lights up, but shows vertical lines. Wondering if anyone has seen this symptom before and/or been able to fix it? Thanks so much! Vertical lines
With the rebuilt battery pack, the lines on the screen are gone, the screen is brighter than it was before the screen 'line problem' started. And best of all, can now undock the PTU without it turning off!
Most important cables are:
A204 is battery cable - very useful when working on car as WDS with good battery is empty in 20 minutes.
B203 is the OBD cable for Jaguar, Aston Martin and older Ford models - for the OBD body socket of a DB9 you will need and extra adapter.
B280 is the OBD cable for newer Ford models.
If you own an older model DB7 you might need a special cable (number I will have to look up) which is not on your list.
I've sent you a PM regarding Aston Martin Software. Also I have developed a multi-boot WDS 40-60GB HDD (or even on 80GB SSD) where with just one HDD or SSD (very stable) you will have a complete Aston Martin, Jaguar and Ford/Mazda system on just one WDS device.
Hi sorry I can’t seem to PM you,
I’m interested in one of these HDD or a copy of a ghost disk CD002 for Aston Martin shipping to the U.K. let me know the best way for us to make this happen? thanks
Well I have 3 Genrad PTUs and aholbro1 keeps one that I lent him. (because he has 7 or 8 Jaguars)
He showed up last week with the PTU because it would not BOOT UP. (dead)
I have one that I use and one that the screen is dark. I can use a VGA monitor but you have to use a keyboard/mouse or GUESS at using the touch screen.
You can poke at the screen and guess where the pointer will be on the remote VGA monitor.
I decided that I needed to combine the two and make one good unit from the two with 'issues'.
The screen from the dead unit was fitted to the working but 'blank' unit and now I have two working again.
If anyone has questions about the 'innards' of the PTU, ask me now because in a few weeks I will have forgotten most of what I remember now.
I don't know what to do with the 'dead' unit but I will save it for parts I guess?

I have a good PTU but won't seem to boot up properly w/o the docking station. I tried doing so by hooking up to 12V battery. Any clues? Thx
It should boot with either the A204 or the OBDII cable plugged into the car socket. It will get power both ways.
Maybe your NiMH battery is faulty?
I use the docking station all the time but aholbro1 only uses the PTU that he keeps at his place.
I'll try booting it via OBD2 - I'll check on the NiMH battery. The battery pack was rebuilt by me before selling the PTU. No error code for that when booting the PTU
Finally got my WDS. Bad news is it had a rough trip across the US and then across the Pacific...
Took a few hits in transit (i'd say more hits than Elvis) and the docking station is a bit beat-up now. The cosmetics don't worry me, but the power supply is dead as my music career...
Had to boot it up on the battery cable, the hard drive seems to have suffered from the knocking around.
I didn't have a keyboard on hand with the PS/2 connection, picking one up tomorrow. So the scandisk ran and then stopped at 350'767 clusters, twice.
I got a few spare hard drives from abonano which is nice, if I can get the docking station going I'll start going through them.
The power supply is totally dead...
It's the original from 1998 so you could say it's had a good run, it would have never ever been switched over to 230V either so maybe it was all too much...
I have been trying to install a new power supply and have the same issue i got the laptop 16v power supply but have no idea where it actually needs the 16 volts going.

orange hot black ground. big white connector on right side of the board
another professional solution is to throw the whole thing in the garbage can and use a power supply on the bench to run the cd drive and install software
