Default How long must I let RTV Sealant set before I start my engine?

I just replaced the 6 spark plug seals and valve cover gasket on my 1997 Xj6L, and used some RTV to help set the seals in. The package says the sealant will be cured after a full 24 hrs and set after 30 minutes. Will I be okay to run my engine before the full 24 hrs? What is the minimum amount of time I can wait? I REALLY want to go for a drive.

The best answer to this question should be on the bottle of the sealant, but 20 mins should be fine...

I'm sorry but you may wish you hadn't used the sealer. The AJ6 channel seals and AJ16 captured seals are designed to be installed clean and dry; with the exception of the half-moon seals at the rear, no sealer is used. The seal material will shed the dried sealant and allow leakage again way sooner than you will like.

Good luck!

Well, that's some news. Nothing to do now other than play the waiting game.

Depending on the product I sometimes let it cure over night .The prematext Right Stuff is said to be put into service right away.
