Thumbs up Jaguar engine

Hi been a long time I've got a 1999 s type 4 litre v8 I've got engine trouble .i need to know if a engine from a another jaguar diffrent size engine and year would go in my car and I forgot it's a automatic many thanks john

All three MY 4.0 (AJ28) engines will work (2000 to 2002 here in the US). The 4.2 engine is different and won't be a straight bolt in. Forget the 3.0 V6 as the modules and bolt patterns are different from your car.

The basic engine block is the same for all the 4.0 (AJ26/AJ27/AJ28) but the intake camshafts, sump plate and lower sump pans as well as the intake, exhaust etc............too much to change if you don't know exactly what you are doing.
