Welcome to the forum.
Start with checking available voltage across the battery terminals using a voltmeter with the ignition in the OFF position. There should be a minimum of 12.6 volts present, if not, charge the battery for five hours at 2 to 5 amps and retest with the voltmeter. If there is still less than 12.6 volts indicated, the battery is failing or weak and should be replaced.
Many of the electrical 'gremlins' chased across these forums is the result of insufficient available voltage for all the vehicle modules to function correctly.

As a new member, thank you so much Sir for replying my friend.
Engine off/on varied between 12.2- 12.6 voltmeter & amp wise, not close.
In advertantly I failed to to say since its last major service 9k ago its former keeper had done 1900 miles 7 years ago & added to the fact you have absolutely guaranteed the battery did die.
I got in via the boot (via rear number plate removal to the manual key lock) to tickel charge it.
After a new battery etc we hope, other than that, not a beat missed so far for such an old girl,
Thank you so much for your response for your input.
Kindest regards Damian G Todd 'D2DGT'

@Damo G Todd, if you purchase a new battery from a parts house such as Halfords, remember to charge the battery prior to installing into the vehicle. Batteries sometimes sit on the shelves for months and can discharge.
