OBDII Code Scanners ** Member Approved **

I also have an icarsoft i930 scanner for our 2001 XJ8. It found the C1095 fault when ran the scan with the ignition in the on position (position just before starting the engine).
We had the abs module repaired in July 2013 (resoldered the 2 pins inside the module).
Look like we have to remove the module again. This time I am going to sent the module out to one on the repair shops on EBay (repair service with life time warranty).

Creader VIII worked on my US spec 97 XK8 and 04 Audi A4.

Thanks for the info. Upon reading your post I tried it one more time and found that it does work on 2002 XJR. It was a connector error. The unit would power but the others connectors were not making contact
.
I was able to connect under the SCAN button by selecting my vehicle and it reported 2 DTC codes. The manual scan reported more info than I would ever know what to do with it.
I was able to clear the codes and remove the "restricted performance" message.
I was not able to connect thru OBDII/EOBD button which I was thinking is where I could reset the yellow check engine light.
The RESET button only listed resetting brake and oil lights but going manual I could connect after selecting my car but did not go any further as I was worried about resetting any of the info that came up.
So I was able to get the Launch Creeder VII to work despite me not knowing how to reset the check engine light.

OBDII tool.
I've spent hours reviewing this thread going back to page 1. I have to admit that I am suffering from information overload and I wish there was some kind of consensus.
That said, I've concluded that the i930 is the best way to go, based largely on Thermite's considerable input.
There hasn't been a lot of new opinions in the past few months, so that's the way I;m going to go unless someone has new information that I should consider.
I welcome any comments/opinions.
Thanks for your attention; I'm new and this is a great forum!

Hey jagv8
I would try the elm327m but it looks like the market is flooded with knockoffs from China for 5-10 bucks. I've always found you get what you pay for and $5 for a sophisticated OBDII tool seems unrealistic.
However, I'm certainly willing to try one if you will give me some guidance on which one to buy and a good supplier. You've obviously had a good experience,
I have Apple IOS devices and Windows laptops. Is there a particular software package that you prefer that go with it?
Thanks, Dan

Hi All,
I just bought the Codekey model number 92202 and am trying to use it on my 95 XJ6 Vanden Plas. Im reading he instructions and it say put the car into battery on and then plug in the Codekey and press read until the codes appear and nothing happens. I saw this as listed as working with my model Jag and now I don't know. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Are there any suggestions, other than Mongoose, for a tool recommended to access dealer features. After two trips to my dealership, they seems less than competent in turning on the puddle lights, so I'm looking to do it myself.
I did purchase an Auto Enginuity tool with the Jaguar enhancement but, contrary to what the vendor advised, it is incapable of working with the puddle light feature.
I'll probably be looking to peddle it since it is of no use for this purpose.

Has anyone determined if the Auto Enginuity "speed tracer" feature is really useful?
I found that the software will not run on Windows 8 or higher, so it will require me to purchase a one use only netbook in order to make use of it. I can do that but would rather have some feed back from forum members in advance of another purchase.
Their description sounds like a useful tool but then so did their Jaguar enhanced software. Contrary to what the salesman told me, it is no where near as capable as IDS. In AE's defense though, I discussed and purchased from a retailer vs directly from them.
