Default Obscure part.....

Hi, Spent 2 hours on the internet looking for these. I checked every Jag part venue I could think of. I believe they are referred to as a "dished washer" and "turning stud". But I may be wrong and that may be my hinderance in locating them. They are used to anchor the overhead console to the ceiling of the car for bulb access. I managed to break mine and while was able to epoxy it back together, am hoping to acquire a couple of others as back up.
Any information would be greatly appreciated!

You need to help us out a bit. Your avatar is an X300 XJ6 sedan, your signature says XJS and Vanden Plas. I assume maybe the XJS should be XJ6. And the part pictured really wouldn't be normally found on a 1995 XJ6. It would be found on an XJ6 PRIOR to 1995. Can you post a pic of its actual location?? Then maybe we can figure out what should be there.

Cheers,

Try this web site.

Body hardware and specialty fasteners - Car-Pak.com, Complete Automotive Supply and Equipment

I bought some fasteners for the radiator cover and the cover up by the windshield for my car. I did have to buy a box each of them but now I have extras.

You might be able to send them a pic to speed up the search as they have thousands of parts posted.

Cheers,
It is a 1995 XJ6 Vanden Plas. And I personally removed the part from behind the sunglasses pocket to open the overhead console to change a bulb when it broke. It is the stud/washer that anchors the console to the ceiling.
I'm not seeing my avatar when on here, but it is a picture I took of my car, so don't know about an X300?

The 1995-1997 model year sedans were known as X300's, it's an engineering designation. The prior model, 1988-1994 sedans were the XJ40.

Ok, the part you have is called a turnbuckle stud, they were used on the XJ40's, but not on the X300's. There is a similar turnbuckle used on your car under the bonnet at the two relay covers behind each headlight set. Similar, but not the same.

Part numbers for what you have are:

AGU1877LEG [comes with the slotted washer, but no longer available from Jaguar]
13H9166 Cam [it's the receptacle the stud latches into, also no longer available]

The correct parts for your car are:

AGU2229LEG Turn Stud
BD461403 Dished Washer
BBC9868 Cam Plate [Receptacle]

Hope that helps!

See, I KNEW that it was called a dished washer and turn stud, but that was not turning up any results in my searches. Thought maybe my source of information on the terminology was off.
However, another helpful member on this site directed me to Car-Pak.com so I emailed them pics and a query of it's availability.
Thank you SO much also for the additional technical information on my model. You are just an encyclopedia of Jag information! LOL!
Now if I can just get my signature picture to show up? It's uploaded but then doesn't show up in my signature preview. Maybe it does from your view but not on this end. I have contacted admin, to see what I'm doint wrong. Thanks again!
