Power steering
Hi all, searched on forums but cannot seem to find any information about the problem I am having. If there is a thread for it I apologise in advance. I have an XKR 2008 plate, recently when starting up and pulling away the steering is extremely heavy when turning the steering wheel to the left. Turning the steering wheel to the right same problem but it is not so severe. After about 5 minutes the problem seems to right itself, until the next time I start the car and drive away then the same problem. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Kind regards
Mark

Mark, when was the last time you changed out your power steering fluid? Some are hydrscopic (ie, like to absorb water) and they can thicken up some, making the pump have to work harder and give you that heavy feel (imaging pumping syrup vice water). At a minimum, that would be good service for your car. After that, I would be looking at the power steering pump and seeing if it has gotten some wear to it as it would be not able to get sufficient pressure when cold due to large gaps and then as things heat up, these gaps close and make it easier for the pump to output the proper pressure.
