Angry R-Dynamic Summer Tires

Leased a 2020 XE R-Dynamic earlier this year, and with the first snow discovered (dramatically) that it came with Summer Tires. No where in the manual or on the sticker does it say this car has tires only good in warm weather. Dealer says we should know R-Dynamic means summer tires. The salesman didn’t even know. So now the car is a Christmas ornament until Spring here in the Northeast. Dealer refuses to do anything. Has anyone else encountered this?

Sorry @Mac635 , I would suspect any car would not have winter tires by default.

You can always get a second set of rims with winter tires OR replace summer tires with all-season. Michelin Crossclimate 2 are superb 4 seasons tires if you don't want to deal with swapping rims.

If the car was delivered in December, I could see dealer having to mention to you that it is equipped with summer tires. Otherwise, I see it as being 100% your responsibility to ensure you have adequate tires for winter conditions.

So it's the dealer's fault you don't know what you bought?
Sorry, no sympathy.

That's the larger issue. There are NO All-Season replacement tires in the required size(s)! I'm investigating Lexani but these are not known to be premium tires.

It IS a resonable expection the a car would come with tires that could be used all year, or that the dealer would tell you if it didn't. We have established thar the dealer DIDN'T know!

That is called introducing a negative in the sales process, so again,
Nope.

It's true in the sense that it would be reasonable for the dealer to expect future sales. In this case, these bozos will definitely never get another sale from me!

I would not be surprised if the dealership feels the same way.
Typically, in the glove box you should find an Owners Manual. There would be a section titled “Winter Tires” with ample choices of Manufacturer and the appropriate tire size options. I am quite surprised the dealer didn’t suggest these tire options with you. Many Jaguar owners purposely source another set of wheels dedicated for winter tire use. In your particular case, there are tire options in the 17, 18 and 19 inch wheel sizes.
