Tough to say. I go with synthetics in mine, and change about every 10K miles. I recall Consumer Reports did an article some years ago comparing motor oils in NYC taxi cabs. You may want to look that one up. Finally, let us know what you decide.

Royal Purple should be workable in the modern Jaguars. I have never had a problem, as I use it in everything. The older pre-catalyst cars would do better with the High Performance RP which contains zinc and phosphates for metal protection in the softer metal Jags. I had a cylinder head redone in a 70's XJ6 which bronze guides were introduced and was told by the machine shop not to use synthetic oil on bronze guide cars. My 03 Cooper S which has plenty of track time has been RP'd since new with no complications or leaks.

According to my XJ40 Driver's Handbook (been on the bookshelf for a lot of years!) and Haynes Manual, it's 8.0 Litres including oil filter which equates to 8.45 US Quarts.
