Default Series 1 front brake upgrade

I have a seies 1 Jaguar xj6. I want to upgrade the front brakes from the three pistion caliper solid rotor to the four piston, vented rotor. Is this even posible with the stock spindle and caliper mounting location? or do i need the later series three spindle setup.

Scott,

You are NEW, so welcome aboard.

Please go to the "new members area" and do your intro, this keeps the Moderators happy, and also lets the greater population know you exist.

The S1 3 piston upgrade to the 4 piston style is do-able, done it a few times.

My memory now, and that is NOT as good as I think it is, and it was a loooooong time ago.

You will need:

1) Suspension vertical strut with spindle.
2) Calipers, obviously, early S2 "should take the same brake hose as the S1, they changed in about '76 somewhere.
3) Steering arm, now this is the hazy bit, I simply dont remember if it was different, or it came with the s/hand units and I simply used it??????.
4) Depended on the spindle you end up with, wheel bearings MAY be different.

The last one I did, I got the whole assemblies, ball joints and all, master cylinder, booster, hubs, etc. The booster and cylinder were not used, they were just in the crate. I had hoses made by the local PBR people.
