Hello Richard,
There is a lot of software in your XJL. It is a good idea to have the dealer check all systems/modules for updates.
If combined with simple service (oil change) it should be complementary.
Obviously, the latest software will provide the best performance.
Ask for a print out/summary of installed software.
Easy enough when reviewing for available updates.
Map updates are a great idea if you use navigation.
Ask the dealer for a quote and what year is available.

I purchased a 2014 XJL recently, and need to update the NAV system, however, the nearest dealer is a three hour drive from my home, so I'm wondering if anyone has a DIY solution to update my car?. maybe a DVD or online connection?. Thanks for any help you might offer. Bearly

It could be perfectly innocent and well intentioned but I am inevitably suspicious when anyone registers and doesn't even add basic LOCATION and VEHICLE details. You are welcome to contact me by forum PM to discuss this further.
