I want to swap out the diff on a custom with a Jag rear axle.
Is this just a case of dropping the old diff out and putting the new one in or are there any special tools I'll need or any alignment procedures?
The diff I have to put in has the brake assemblies on, so it's probably eaiser to keep these fitted?
It also has the inner fulcrum mounts on, so again, keep these on? I see these are shimmed so do I need to accurately measure the old diff width or shim thinkness to make sure I keep the alignment right?
I am thinking it's going to be easier to drop the whole axle assembly from the car and replace the diff rather than trying to do it in-situ.
There are shims for two things, (1) disc alignment in the caliper, and (2) wheel camber adjustment. If the brake assemblies are already on, then you don't have to align for the discs, just the camber angle.
