Default Throttle body coolant connector

I’m
What is the gray plastic piece on the upper left? More importantly, what does the small tube slanting out of it connect to? Thanks Doug

dthornton, we need a little bit more information about what you are trying to do. First off, telling us the model and year of your vehicle would go a long way. The size of the motor is going to be key also. While not necessary, but what are you attempting to do/fix? All of this is key information for us to have so we can give a direct and precise answer to your question.

Default 2018 XE 35t coolant issue

Thanks for responding. My 2018XE 35t, 3 liter supercharged was losing coolant. I bought a kit with aluminum tubes, new water pump, and new thermostat. I removed the supercharger following the instructions in another thread. I installed the new components. When I reinstalled the throttle body there a tube attached to the throttle body with a gray plastic piece. One opening attaches to the a tube that connects the coolant overflow and the radiator. I can’t figure out where the smaller diagonal tubing connects. I don’t remember disconnecting it. All of the videos I’ve watched don’t mention it but show it disconnected. I’m not sure that it even connects to anything, but it looks like it should.

Thanks again.

Doug

You can see the part in this picture right in the center. It’s not connected.

dthornton, you may want to look at that piece again. I bet you will find that the small port coming off to the side is actually blocked. I have something similar to that on my XJ. So, there will be nothing that gets plugged to that port. Now, I would recommend going over to the XE section (you are currently in the general Tech area) as the XE guys are going to know a lot more of the specifics about your car.

Your car sounds like the one I got to test drive on a closed track. Boy was that fun. Got to toss the car through the curves and make the AWD system work. Nothing like making the car do a 4 wheel slide to the side in a corner while under heavy acceleration. If I ever have to get rid of my XJ, getting an XE-S with the supercharged V6 is high on my list.
