I had found this in one of my Jags years ago. What is it?

Well, looking at the end, it would appear to plug into the cigarette lighter. Based on the orange lens on the top of it, I would have to guess that this is some sort of old time light that you could plug in to see lower in the car at night without having to turn on the overhead lights. But, much beyond that, I can't see enough detail to see if there is a plug or something on the far side. If you still have it, plug it into your cigarette lighter and see what happens.

 

Could be it's some sort of aftermarket ozone air purifier generator accessory bit. Just guessing.
