Wiring Diagram Symbol Question

Wiring Diagram Symbol Question
Maybe I am weird, but as I have started to get into wiring and electrical diagnosis, I am finding I really like it. Blends a lot of my skills together into one task. Learning curve of diagram reading is a bit steep initially, but expect it to be short. Had a general question. I have the diagram for my 2003 X-Type and I'll say it is really good and pretty easy to understand, but did have a pretty simply question. What does this mean exactly? Specifically what is the number 58 referencing? (Specifically the circle with 58 in it)

tergitkerd, the circle with a number in it references back to the first section detailing the breakout of the power for the car. If you go back to that section, you will see the beginning will be a lot of squares at the end of a line with a number in it and then later on, these turn into circles with numbers in it. So, using your example, the circled 58 references back to figure 1.4 (bottom right corner). If you follow the line back, it then tells you that this circle is powered from fuse F81 in the central fuse box (aka, the passenger compartment fuse box). The numbers to the right of the circled 58 tell you the figures that this wire feed. So, for example, if you look at Figures 3.2 and 3.4. This is where you have to know what you are dealing with and what the options are as to whether either of those apply to your car. In this case, Figure 3.2 applies to cars with the 2.5L and 3.0L engines, where Figure 3.4 applies to those with the 2.0L engine.
The last tidbit of information that this tells you is that this source of power is a switched source. If it is powered all the time (ie, directly off of the battery), it will be a square.

OK, thanks for this explanation. It is spot on and easy to understand. This is what I was thinking was probably the case, but was a little confused. I see exactly what you are talking about. Follow on question - in section 01.2, there is also a 58, but in a square only - is this referencing something completely different? I see it points to section 15.1 and 15.2 which are totally unrelated to the fuel delivery. Seems the reference symbols key may be saying that if the number is in a square, it is battery power supply, circle with one line below, key position 1, circle with 2 lines, switched power. Of course, like you said. So, it is possible that each of the power types have their own individual numbering systems? Meaning there can be 1,2,3...88 in a square, but also 1,2,3...88 in a circle, position 1 symbol, and 1,2,3...88 etc. for switched power? Thanks again!

tergitkerd, you are correct. Like I explained in my first post, a square indicates a power source that has battery voltage on it at all times and then is numbered 1 through the end.
As for the pic, yes, that is up on Skyline Drive. I drive it about every other year in October. Gotta love the views. Need to get a new pic with my new XJL. That is of Jackie, my 2012 XJ that I totaled in April 2023. I now have Grayson, a 2016 XJL. May get a pic here soon of Grayson next to the Pax river at sunset. That area always makes for a great pic.
