Default WSA580 - harder shifts - MOPAR style

Something from the hardcore MOPAR drag racers:

to get harder up and down shifts on a WSA580 install the following MERCEDES parts:

Blue Top Transmission Solenoids
These will increase line pressure and therefore shift firmness in the 5 speed NAG1 Tranny.

#240 270 00 89

I have no idea what the Mercedes application is. Perhaps a AMG model.

Now...

Does anyone know if the differential on a X308 is a 215mm?

And the spline count on the inboard end of the halfshaft?

Ahh...it was an old idea when looking at Ford Racing LSD units before realising that the Lincoln LS/Jaguar link is closest for the X, not the XJ.

There are already plenty of LSD options though, but I guess you already know them.

I know of the prior generation factory Powerlock LSD, the aftermarket Quaife, and the aftermarket OS Giken.

Any others?

Is it possible to transplant the X300 Powerlock LSD mechanism into the X308 differential?

Why would you do that just bolt in the diff & swap the front mounting plate. You can bolt any early diff in your car, I am running a 3.77 LSD diff in my XKR.

Ok. A bracket racer alluded to this. What does Jaguar call this front plate? Just to be clear when looking at it in JTIS.

If one uses the original ratio, is this just a mehanical drop in then? Meaning no TCU or other electrical changes.

What was the donor car for the one you are running now?

Here is the picture of it (form the newer ones). The pinion of the older types are slightly offset, so you need the older ones also with an offset hole.

As long as you indeed don't change the ratio it is a drop in, many have already done so.

Another option, but probably only slightly cheaper than a quaife for you in the US is to get the LSD from gripper diffs in the UK, this was the first one I used.

Thank you so much!

It is so much easier to figure things out when they can be seen.

The information about the offset is a nice little nugget to know. Is the offset vertical or lateral?

Any comments on the possibillity that the GKN original in the SC cars might have used a silicone based viscous LSD?

Here you can see the offset:
JAGUAR XJ6 REAR SUSPENSION DIFFERENTIAL BRACKET FRAME - eBay (item 130551330815 end time Aug-21-11 21:15:20 PDT)

As far as I know Jaguar has only used clutch type LSDs.
