Hello all, I have a question about the differences between the various year model ZF6HP26 transmissions. The specific questions are : what is the difference between the transmissions used in the NA -vs- Supercharged cars, as well as, are there any differences between the various year models. I have a 2004 XJR and I'm thinking of buying a used transmission to rebuild.
Thanks in advance
Thanks in advance

I'm fairly sure that on later XJs (and XFs and XKs), from 2009 when the 4.2 was replaced by the 5.0, the auto box was the 6HP26 in cooking models but the 6HP28 in the R and other supercharged versions. Then in/around 2012 the 6 speed was replaced with the 8 speed ZF 8HP70 except for the first year of the "facelift" XFR and the XK which soldiered on with the 6 speed.
No way you can replace your 6 speed with an 8 speed but it may be possible to replace your 6HP26 with the stronger/better 6HP28, although it's likely the 28 will cost a bit more than a 26.

The r converter is bigger but same bolt pattern. The internals should be the same on trans hard parts. The tcm is programmed different because of the different torque curves. This is n/a vs supercharged zf6hp26. The reason i know the program is different is because when i did my r s type the file reads zf6hp26 supercharged before you proceed using the vin for all files
