I don't fully agree with this article, yet some great points are made. My experience with Jaguar service and roadside assistance have been great, except for certain parts needing to be sourced from Europe. I don't see the practicality of every EV maker having its own charging network with national/international coverage. It's kind of like saying every ICE car maker should have its own gas stations. EV adoption seems to be a "chicken or the egg" proposition in terms of whether you can sell the cars without the charging network being generally in place or if the charging network won't be built until there's a lot of demand for them.
Tesla really had to invent the charging network at scale since they were the true pioneers of the EV space and nothing was in place. I've had my I-Pace for almost three years now and we take it from Delaware to Ohio and back a few times each year. In 2021, I had to plan the trips SO carefully because there were so few non-Tesla fast chargers along the route. Now I have triple the choices and growing every month. The Delaware beach area now has dozens of public chargers and there are two fast chargers about a mile from my home. Once (if?) I get my NACS adapter, I'll have all the choices for public charging I could want, although I only use public chargers infrequently for the occasional long trips.
Aside from the battery debacles (12V included), my perspective as an I-Pace owner is that it has been pretty reliable and we both agree it's a blast to drive!
