Default New I-Pace 2021 specs

Looks like the new specs will have the I-Pace charging far faster, the infotainment system will be far better, and some interesting new colors and options. I might be tempted to swap up if I don't end up eating my shirt on the existing car next year. https://www.carsguide.com.au/car-new...-tech-for-audi

The article mentions a new OS. I really hope they move away from embedded Windows and use Android like Polestar did.
Complimentary 4G for SOTA would be really nice too.

Embedded Windows can be really good, F-150 implementation people rave about but folks tend to under spec the related processor and it gets slow. My worst experience was with their old AutoPC, my wife wanted to rip that out and toss it out the window. I probably, in hindsight, shouldn't have put it in her car. But the issue was Clarion specified a processor that wouldn't run it to get t a price point.

I think one of the more important updates is the faster onboard charge controller. It would be nice to increase charging speed on AC fast chargers. It's not a huge deal to me, but it would still be nice.

I'm with you there. Looking forward to seeing the next version.

Looks like the car is getting a faster on-board charger but wish they'd jumped to 50 Amps instead of 40, still an improvement. The update on the infotainment system is far bigger as is more aggressive over the air updates (oh and the active aero stuff sounds really interesting): https://www.greencarreports.com/news...ng-ota-updates

I wonder if they will offer an on-board charger upgrade to existing I-Pace owners. I wouldn't expect it to be a no-charge upgrade, but if it was reasonable I would be interested.

You will most definitely eat your shirt, pants, socks ans shoes. My 2019 HSE with 2200 miles sold for $45,000 at a dealer last week after sitting on the lot for seven months!

The biggest problem with non-Tesla EVs is charging them; the I-Pace has had very favourable reviews as a car, and inside and out looks much better than a Tesla. Tesla have invested quite a sum in a charging network and other cars have no access, you have to use the public network and these can be flaky, with many not working, or charging slowly. So owning an I-Pace is OK if you have a home charger and don't drive too far away. However for long-distance work on business or holiday trips, I reckon they're still a No-No.

It is tough depending on where you live. Electrify America is doing a decent job putting in chargers but their customer care kind of sucks. I think this will be all sorted before mid-decade but, until then, most electrics will still be best for local drivers with chargers in their garage.
