RE: LED Swap
And here I was mapping out my route to VA. [sm=gears.gif]Thanks for the great info Thermo.[sm=nerd.gif] I think my head may explode.[sm=nxsmile.gif] But seriously, I will eventually get this done, but I think that where I need to start is the right bulb, right? I still dont know what size or how many. I havent taken the time to remove the dash or center console to see what Im dealing with. Has anyone other than superjag taken this on? Any tips on taking off the console without tearingit up?

RE: LED Swap
queen, I am looking to take this on. I have some spare parts laying around that should do the trick. Granted, if I convert over to LED bulbs, then I am also converting the indications to a different color. But, that is me and my goal of having something different. So, be a little bit patient and see what I come up with. Once I get a feel for what works and what doesn't, then I will pass on the info.

RE: LED Swap
super_jag, out of curiousity, what MCD LEDs did you go with? I am looking for a starting point. I have a bunch of 5000 MCD LEDs at my place that have no real purpose at the moment (for another project which is going south really fast). But, I have a feeling that they are going to be a little bright for what I am after. But then, I am one that likes to keep the dash lights fairly flow to aide with night vision.

RE: LED Swap
Hi guys sorry I been gone for so long just busy. Anyways ThermoI don't remember if it was 3000 or 5000but they are hell a bright. But i like that people can see me inside at night. I had the door leds go out they started to flicker and they went so I need to check that out. The rest are ok. I still haven't ordered new leds for the rest of the radio and the instrument cluster.

in alot of the projects i have been involved in, and needed specialty leds, this is where i usually start.
http://superbrightleds.com/BA9S6_specs.htm these have come in handy especially with dash cluster bulbs and center console lighting
this might make some swaps easier too, http://superbrightleds.com/instrument.html

It is looking like I will be ordering some 1000 MCD bulbs. That should be close to what the factory bulbs are in intensity. Granted, should look at some wide angle LEDs too. That will help with distributing the light around. But, if I can't find what I am after, then I will modify the end of the LED acrylic to reshape the lens to do what I want. I know, glutton for punishment and a guy with too much time on his hands.
