98 XJ8 AJ26 Engine HELP???
Ok guys I have some questions Im hoping someone can answer. I have a 98 xj8 and it has the factory replacement engine with the steel liners in it. I spun a rod bearings and chewed up my crank pretty bad its junk. I went and found a used motor from other 98 but it has the factory nikasil liners. My questions are these:
1. Are you parts in the bottom end of both motors interchangeable? (rods, crank, pistons, ring)
2. I called jaguar about new bearings and they were asking for a bearing color code?? Is this just for certain years and the 98s have a certain color code or what??
3. When Jaguar put the replacement motor in my car with steel liners what did they do just take all parts off old motor press in steel liners and put everything back in bottom and top end?? So its just a Aj26 with steel liners?? Any help would be amazing thanks guys Jeremy

Hey
I have just been through something similar. What size crank do you have. Can you measure the journal sizes on the big end and mains. I have a spare crank here that has been machined down .010" (.25mm). Also you can get matching bearings from Racing Green Cars in the UK.
I am willing to sell the crank, however i am in Australia
