The project is on hold until I get myself back on my feet and learn the necessary things, but there are new advancements in hobby style processing boards like the raspberry-pi and the beaglebone (which are essentially small computers)... But I am learning new things every day towards the project

Hello Jagforums... I AM BACK My surgery went well last year and I have found some new knowledge in Youtube and the internet I am going to Re-start the Project with smaller aims this time, working at the project in "modules" or "Blocks"
Block/Module 1: Read Analog Signals (Lambda Sensor, Temp Sensors, Air Flow etc)
Block/Module 2: Read Digital Signals (Tacho Pulse, Limit Switches, etc)
Block/Module 2b: Log All Inputs to a SD card or similar
Block/Module 3: Control An Ignition Coil with a Microcontroller (Without letting the black smoke out)
Block/Module 4: Control Timing and Delays With some fake Inputs
This will be a long project with me coming on it and off it from time to time (My concentration isn't the best)
BUT FIRST... A flow chart showing how it works

The 3 attached images are flowchart diagrams showing the basic functionality of the original L-jetronic ECU and my ECU (L-Jetduino).
The prototype will be designed in the next few days and be made in the up coming months.. It will only provide basic functionality (keep the motor running... hopefully)

engine size?
By my understanding of the 5CU system, the ecu doesn't care what size the engine is. The only requirements for the 5CU is 6 cylinders ( as a whole or as a unit (jaguar considered using twin 5CU systems for the V12 prior to Digital-P, but stuck with carbs until Digital-P was ready) and a coil-powered distributor. From reading the Jetronic manual from Bosch and then (when i found it) the manual for the Lucas 5CU, one of the differences between the two is the way the ECU gets RPM signal, Lucas used the coil it self, Bosch used the 6-point hall-effect sensor in the distributor that jaguar insisted on using for the ignition amplifier.

Did i miss something or is it that the ECU your building must have engine size? From what I have heard and read, the 5CU has been installed on 3.2, 3.4, 3.6, 3.8 and 4.2 XK6 engines by either jaguar or by people "upgrading" older engines to a better fuel system with no modifications to the system itself, but only to the intake manifold when needed (pre type "d" heads needed a plate between the head and the intake manifold to change the direction of cooling passages into the manifold. The type "D" head did not need this because it had both sets of passages, the intake manifold itself be it carbureted or fuel injected blocked off the passages not needed).

I might investigate it more "later" but with life how it is currently, I barely have time or energy to do anything in my free time.

Someone else who took up the idea of using Arduino.
I've looked at several options for my long-term project of a Mk2GT. I came to the conclusion that it's easier to use something off the shelf and not too complicated. One of the reasons for that is that rolling road (chassis Dyno) tuning is just about essential to get the best out of the system, especially for ignition timing, and most of the tuners are much happier to work with systems they know. Plus, it's nice to have someone else doing part of the work or I'll never finish. My present plan is to use the Emerald ECU
