Default Larger MAF for 4.0 and 4.2 Supercharged engines

Am posting this to keep the information together about the ProM MAF sensors that have a calibration for some Jaguar engines.

Pro-M has different type of MAF systems, one more traditional, the 3.5" tube with their MAF sensor in it, but also a very nice unit called Pro-M 92, that also includes an airlifter.

Both do offer more then enough airflow for the Eaton setups, even for the more extreme Twin-Screw setups. The Pro-M 92 is a very attractive unit as it combines the Airlifter, a sophisticated air measurement not protruding so much in the airflow, and no risk of pre MAF airflow influences like sharp bends of tubing you need to think off.

Pro-M has made 2 calibrations that I had requested one for the "AJ27 4.0 Jaguars" and one for the "AJ34 4.2 Jaguars". So NOT for the AJ26 engines, though the calibration may not be far of I have no experience with that.

These Pro-M units do not have a compatible thermistor (Temp Sensor) as your original MAF sensor, so you need to add that yourself and wire that up and place it correctly in the airflow.
You can either use that one from your original MAF (so cut it off carefully and put that in the airflow) or buy a used coolant or IAT#2 temp sensor from 2002 and younger XK8/XJ8 as are the same, again putting the thermistor without that shielding) into the airstream).

There is no need for any ECU tuning, or other electronic devices in between, as long as you buy it with the Jaguar calibration as mentioned.

For example if you are charmed by the Pro-M 92 unit, then this is what you need to buy:
https://www.promracing.com/pro-m-92.html
- Add the right calibration as mentioned above in the comments.
- no need to provide injector size etc. if you keep stock injectors (Only if you go to the more extreme setups with different superchargers you may want to use larger injectors).
https://www.promracing.com/6-pin-6-wire-pigtail-1.html
And sort out the thermistor as mentioned.
Here is the wiring diagram, please lookup the wire colors in the Jaguar Electrical guides for you model year.

Pro-M can adjust the calibration for the unit, in case you want to change your injectors, so if you want to do so be clear to them. The AJ27 engine calibration was based upon 360cc, and the AJ34 on 400 (iirc).
So if you contact them and mention the new flow in CC they can adjust it accordingly.
One note for the 2006+ model years (who have VVT) , there the stock injector size is 500cc, so you need to mention that you have the AJ34 engine with stock 500cc injectors and your new ones.

The quality of these MAFs is very good from what I have experienced so far, so even if you have a different engine/ecu combo these units could be of interest, but that would mean you have to make your own calibration or ask ProM (will not be cheap, as you need to ship your full intake with air filter box and some original new MAF sensors, and they charge their time)

For the record I have no affiliation with Pro-M and don't get anything from this, just sharing what I know if you want one of these units.

Forum member @Broeils hasn't gotten the right tune for the 4.2 AJ34 engine, he will try to sort it out with Prom, here is his link with the issue:

As long as that hasn't been resolved why the wrong tune had been loaded, I would advice to hold from ordering one!

Have tried to explain to Chris from promracing that what they send to Broeils is not the tune we had developed with them (at a whopping cost of 2500$).
Just the fact that at 0 flow Broeils measured 0 volt, and also got a readout from Prom that also shows 0 volt at 0 flow, is enough evidence it wasn't correct, well to my surprise I got the following answer from Chris:

As I have told him several times, nothing has changed. That said, I'm sick of this Jaguar BS, as half these people do just fine and the other half can't seem to figure it out. We will no longer be offering the Jaguar calibration. I'm done with this foolishness.

I still have a good 3,5" MAF with the Jaguar 4.2 tune, and have shown this to Chris, which he kindly ignored:

The quality control from ProM has always been bad and their service even worse. Good riddance.

That’s a real shame. The ProM92 I have for my 03’ SV8 (4.0 AJ27S) works great. I’ve had it on for about a year with no issues. It sucks that they don’t stand behind their product for you.
