I wonder is there a way to mark a thread as a favorite and keep it in a bookmark list from within the the forums?

 

Yes, under "Thread Tools" click on "Subscribe" this will add the thread to your subscriptions. At the top of the first post in the thread.

You can see your subscribed threads in your Control Panel (User CP, top left of screen.)
