I regularly go into have a closer look at the great pictures on the forum. I keep seeing the same pictures in the Gallery that goes across the top of the forum page, but I have not seen my own pictures. Is there something else I need to do?

I noticed the same thing Delta, seems the forum software 'random' selection is rather biased. I see the same pics at the top ALOT, and apparently nothing they can do to be more generous to others' galleries. I already asked admins about this a few months back.

 

Delta, as H20 says this has been looked at before although not as successful as I'd like there are certainly more albums there that I have'nt seen previewed before.
It is not as H20 boy suggests in any way, shape or form "biased"
This would be difficult as I did not set up the forum software and neither has any other mod had any part in this.....unfortunately, for the time being, its just the way that it is.

I am ever hopeful, that someday, at some point we will be able to address this issue ( which is relatively minor ) compared to the onslaught of spam we receive, forum speed which I'd like to see improved as well as other issues that need attention.

 

Thanks for the replies, I understand that there are more important issues for the forum, I was just being curious. The photo I keep seeing is two blokes dressed in white infront of a white monument/building.

 

Hi Delta, still have this issue in mind and have looked at it again recently with another Admin.
His view is that every time he refreshes the page he sees another different set of pictures. I checked myself and have certainly seen some that I've never seen before, and also seen where there's been 2 or 3 different pics from different albums as well.
Suffice to say as far as I can see its still not 100% perfect, although, maybe slightly better and we will continue to look into this and see if there's a way where it can be as we'd all like it.

Ok, I admit, i'm seeing a little more variety on loading the home page. Perhaps the software has enjoyed the benefit of us cleaning up all those spam albums and is rewarding us? I've seen some pics that I've never seen before.

Is there a configuration setting that sets the random display order? Or is it possible to display galleries based on a set order, oldest to newest or newest to oldest, etc.? I was thinking something along the lines of a random seed generator.

Jim, you are right, there is more variation in-between the regular pictures. I have added a couple more to my gallery to up my chances of making it!

I noticed that neither yours or Delta66's pictures have come up when I opened the site yet. Maybe you need to bribe the admins. There does seem to be a pattern on whose pictures get displayed, but I haven't been able to figure it out yet.
