Quick question to ALL members.

I sent out over 5000 emails the other day to ALL members relating to the forum. This was done twice for different reasons and there everyone should have at least 2 mails from Jag forums.

ANYONE ELSE?????

Jim, I got them both. 1 regarding login problems, 1 regarding the vB update.

CHRISTO - Have you checked your spam folder?

Sure have, nothing in there but an email for some viagra. Trust me guys, they arent getting to me. I even check verizon on the net thru web mail just to make sure it wasnt my computer or spam filters - nothing since the cut over to the new software. My gmail is working great - already had like 7 or 8 emails within the last hour.

Based on that link I provided a few posts back, it may or may not be accurate depending on what software versions this board is running on - however it states that it may require a certain configuration (some -f parameter) when sending out emails... That really doesnt mean much to me right now, but the logic seems right - no?

If it was only me, then I would have to agree with you guys. But others are experiencing the same issue, even though it is very few of us.

I thought it might have been isolated to Verizon users, but it may be throwing a spam flag on the isp's email servers - the way the interent works is very complicated... But the emails coming from the jf may look like some kind of automatically generated spam machine is sending them out and our isp's are trying to cut down on this and therefore it is being rejected or deleted immediately.

Christo, Keith, and everyone else with this issue - I have an idea.

I know it's not a good permanent solution, but until they fix it, I'm noticing G-Mail apparently gets notifications just fine (I have G-Mail as well). You could just set up a G-Mail account, takes all of a few minutes, and you can set up a filter to automatically forward all Jaguar Forums mail to your primary email. Just change your email on here to the G-Mail one and you'll get notifications.

Like I said, not a great solution, but it'll work for the time being. Setting up filters and forwarding is easy, if anyone wants to do that method for now and wants help setting things up, feel free to ask here or PM me.

I'll give it a try. Still haven't rec'd a single email since the switchover. I know its not my computer, phone, or isp, I get stuff from other forums. Not spam either, nothing in my spam folder. Always something, just like Jags, always something!

Cerberus, I set up the gmail account, went through the instructions for forwarding email to my primary email, which also goes to my Blackberry, then changed my email address on this forum to my new gmail address. Anything else? If not, I'm going to set back and see if they come rolling in. I can only hope. Sounds logical though!

Well, now it really sucks! As of this morning, I did get 4 emails, each one telling me that about 4 or so threads I've visited had replys. The "title" of each thread was listed, but, the individual thread response from the poster was not there. Soooo, I now know that a thread has been responded to, but, I have no idea what the response was from the poster, unless, I wait until I have access to my computer, to search for the threads. The phone takes to long to search with, so thats out. This makes email notification totally useless! On the old system, I received the entire thread post, so I had an idea of what the posters response was. This is getting to be too much trouble!

Hey Keith,

I have set my windows mobile phone set to check my gmail account and the post is listed in the email message - like it has always been. Log into you gmail and check the email message for the post message. If its there it might be the way the bb is handling the messages. The bb might have a setting for dowloading the message header only of forcing the entire message download. Let me know...

Still nothing to me Jim. I'm going to try a few things in the CP and see if I can get a fix.

Thumbs up No more email

Hey Christo, I actually got two emails today, just like they used to be, the whole post. One was yours, the other from Jose in the XJ6 forum. Both came through on my computer email, and my phone email. The messages were in my inbox on gmail, including the ones with only the header. I did just set up a filter to forward all Jaguar forum emails. This wasn't really required in the initial setup of forwarding mail, but I thought, what the heck, I'll try. Anyway, I think we're headed in the right direction. Hey, just got the one from H2Oboy, following your reply. Maybe things are starting to look up.

That's weird why you only got the header information. Is there a setting for that or was that a goof?

Yeah I think things are starting to look up as well! I wonder if a new user signs up and if plagued by this problem, they may never get their confirmation email. I actually I don't remember if we needed to do that...

No special setting that I know of, just worked out that way. The new user may indeed have some problems if this isn't settled soon. At least we now know it is do-able. Keith

I still get no email notifications, my PMs aren't showing up after someone tells me they sent me one. I refuse to do a gmail account just to get forum notifications. Though, if I didn't get junk mail forwarded, perhaps I could use a filter to send only some emails to my outlook. For now, I'll wait until someone finds a fix.
