Default Purging "attachments"

Greetings,

So early in my forum life her on JaguarForums, I used the attachment function to share info. Later I began using my flickr account to share from.

Currently I cannot upload via attachments as my limit is maxed.

Question: How can I find where those old space consuming attachments are without going back through every post one at a time?

Any easy way?

Thanks
Vince

I didn't realize their was an accumulative attachment limit. What limit # is it giving you?

Neither did I.

Are you sure it is not just the current attachment that is too big Vince?

I had a problem with attachments failing the other night and just used photobucket to work around, maybe there is a glitch.

I've had a few attachments fail recently for no apparent reason - they weren't over the size limits. In each case the post looked OK when I pressed 'send' but the attachment was then missing in the post.

Had to go back and 'edit' then re-attach to get them to appear.

It's been random across both pics and graphics.

Well, I managed to go back and pull some offline...
This is the window I had, only in early Dec when i created this post I was up over the limit. I still can't do any more, as you can see the error I get...

What happens if you use the 'Click here to view.....'?

That error message IIRC is badly worded, and really applies to an individual attachment rather than your whole account.

I think that I have seen it once or twice in my early days, trying to upload ppt.

I've looked through the first 8 pages of your forum posts and can't see anything wrong, especially as you are using flickr (the last one I looked at was your licence plate holder thread, btw).

Nope, not the case. It is a functional upload barrier, and worded correctly that I can tell. If I keep the file image under 56K it will upload.

When I click on "click here" it takes me to a management screen that shows all the attachments I have on the forum. This is where I had to go delete some attachments to get me under the 1 meg barrier.

Not forgotten about you, you are doing the right thing.

I'm just trying to figure out how to help.

Thanks,

I just don't want to overload your storage.... I understand the need for limits thanks to maintaining 12Tb of NAS at work myself...

But some things, like service documentation shots should probably stay with your site, rather than vanish with me or my paid flickr account...

peace,
Vince

Any further news?

This 1meg limit is killing me....

I enjoy providing data on posts to help folks out.... but I really don't want to keep service manual "snapshots" in my flickr account forever.

When I delete them, the remaining post becomes much less relevant to those searching questions that we have already answered.

Personal photos of cars and drives I can maintain in flickr without complaint, but I would like a way for Jaguar data to stay here via the upload attachment process....
I can reduce stuff (file size) to a degree, but 1Meg total uploads is still imposable to hold to as time passes by.

help?
Vince

Try this.

Use FF and go to Snag.gy.

Then copy the image direct from your PC, paste into snag.gy, and then copy the proposed link.

In your post, paste the link as below using the Mountain icon. The image will be loaded to the forum server.

No need for flickr.

Takes about 20 seconds all in.

Will do...

Question: Is this an actual limit for most forum members, or is it just something buggered up with my account?

Thanks
Vince

I think it may be you (or your account anyway) simomallen posted an attachment today that was 1.08MB https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/x...tic-doc-88630/ and he has several others dotted around the forum.
Having said that I have no idea of the solution.
