Default Site running very slowly?

Takes a while to load and to respond to any requests, been like this for a few days. All my other sites are fine.

Anybody else?

I've tried FF, Chrome and even IE, same results.

Thanks for the post Mikey.

No its not just you, I've been experiencing it as well.

I've asked IB to look into it as a matter of urgency and hope that its resolved soon.

No problem Mikey.

With the help of IB we're looking into it and "looking to remove some dead weight ad partners that may be slowing things down"

Its certainly a lot better at the momet but hopefully with a few tweaks we can improve even further.

"looking to remove some dead weight ad partners that may be slowing things down"
That would be all of them then! LOL

Seriously, when I do make an effort to look at what may be bogging down, generally it is the :

ajax.googleapis.com
jquery 1.6.2
jqueryui 1.8.18

That seem to be hanging the most.

Mikey TBH, even with a slow 1/2Mb connection I've got the site loading pretty instantly all the time.

It all depends on how much you are prepared to alter your system to your conditions.

And no I don't load adverts, nor do I run adblock, nor is my "hosts" file overly modded.

Our man Plums, put me onto running my own DNS and what have you. Works like a charm right across the Internet.

If anyone is interested.

Info

and TreeWalkDNS

Looks like I spoke too soon- back to a crawl. The other interbrand sites I visit seem to be OK.

Thanks for the links, I'll look into it.

Lightbulb dns is part of the problem

Not all of the problems are external resources. One of the contributors is that the DNS for jaguarforums.com is not up to par.

The links below are to screenshots of tests run about 15 minutes ago. The tests were done at just-dnslookup.com who have 50+ monitoring sites sprinkled around the world. Their results have always been a very accurate overview of DNS performance.

Warning, they are not heavy but pretty big in terms of screen size.

jaguarforums.com

basicstate.com

exactstate.com

The DNS servers for JF are run by IB themselves, while the DNS servers for the other two are outsourced to managed DNS services provider edgedirector.com

BTW, the TTL value of 300 seconds, or 5 minutes is a disadvantage as it means anyone on the site for longer than 5 minutes is going to have to do a fresh DNS lookup every 5 minutes during their viewing session.

Poor Plums.

More to the point, even with my slow connection speed I have simply not seen or experienced any of the reported problems.

The forum loads instantly and page transitions are in the blink of an eye.

No expert, but this would lead me to think about external sources, or Skin Styles.

The last couple of weeks or so has been the absolute funkiest behavior for this site. Sometimes it takes a long time to even connect to the site and then once here it could take forever to actually go to a topic. At times the problem goes away but today, for example, it is back again with a vengeance.

Hang in there Doug, we are reliably informed that a team headed by crack techs is aware of the problem and work is being done to improve things.

(course I could have misread the communique and it might be 'crack head techs'!)

Please continue to report on the site behaviour, all reports help in the fight to push for improvements.

Well, the hardware is in SoCal ... so you should be the least affected of any.

Ehhhh....maybe a little, but it doesn't seem too much...the speed does change a lot, sometimes it is quite nice and other times it hangs up between threads for a moment..

Site is still the slowest and quirkiest to load up of all the various sites I visit. Any definitive reason for this?

As per previous, some things are being worked on.

One thing, Thursdays will generally be more quirky than most days. (maintenance Apparently).

With the site DOWN at various intervals.

Can't offer more at the minute, simply because I don't have any more information.

Believe me guys, even behind the scenes, we are pushing, pushing, for improvements.

Stick with us, we are fighting your corner.
