David Brown's Jaguar XKR-based sports car to debut in Monaco, specs confirmed
Filed under: Coupe, Performance, Jaguar, UK, Specialty, Design/Style
David Brown Automotive has been teasing its Project Judi sports car for over a month, but with its latest teaser images and details, we finally have an idea what the classically inspired, sports coupe actually looks like.
Judi will be powered by a Jaguar-sourced 5.0-liter, supercharged V8 with 510 horsepower and 461 pound-feet sending power to the rear wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. Performance will be brisk, with Brown estimating the sprint to 60 miles per hour will take 4.6 seconds and top out at an electronically limited top speed of 155 mph.
The chassis will be taken from the Jaguar XKR, but the interior and exterior will be completely bespoke with a design by former Land Rover designer Alana Mobberley. Judging by the few teaser images, Judi will combine a front end similar to an Aston Martin DB5 and a swooping fastback with circular taillights. "I wanted all the impact and style of a classic sports car, but with modern capabilities and conveniences," said Brown.
The design relation to classic Aston Martins should not be a complete surprise. The David Brown behind the new company is a descendant of the David Brown who owned Aston Martin after World War II. The DB on many Aston Martin models is a reference to that earlier Brown. It seems like a huge legacy to live up to when launching your own car.
Brown will launch Project Judi at the Top Marques Show in Monaco on April 17, and like most of these British boutique cars, production will be very limited. Scroll down to read the company's full announcement about Judi.Continue reading David Brown's Jaguar XKR-based sports car to debut in Monaco, specs confirmed
