Chrome Trim around Door Openings Removal?
I've decided to send the XJ8 for a fresh coat of paint and want to strip the car before it goes out for prep and paint.
I'm referring to the moldings that are on the body that run from the A-pillar to the C pillar and around the Rear Quarter Window. I've had everything else off once before except these moldings. Any Ideas on how they are attached?
The first opinion I got was the guy thought they were bonded in place but he did not know for sure.
Thanks,
Ken

Today I pulled the chrome pieces from the drip rails. They came off pretty easily. Since I don't trust myself with hammers around things that can be damaged I ended up using a plastic prybar.
There's a notch about 1 foot up from the end (at the A-pillar end) that the bar fits right into. I applied a little torque and pulled at the end with my other hand. It peeled loose from front to back easily.
The real beasts were the Quarter Glass Trim's. Mine were in place with both double sided PSA and the same urethane adhesive used to bond the glass into the body. I had to cut and hack away at each side for at least 2 hours. That's something I never want to do again. I Even made a special tool to do the job but it still was a bear.
