RE: Thermostat Housing Torque spec's
Removethe front bolts completely from the t-stat housing. Then remove the rear ones part way. As they come up evenly, start to lean the housing forward and keep removing the bolts.
It will come off without removing intake. I advise against reuse of gaskets if you choose to remove intake.
Also, do yourself a favor. Remove two bolts from the thermostat cover and use them on the rear of the housing, and the two longer ones from housing, put back in thermostat cover. Hopefully you are changing thermostat with it.

Well I took off the intake manifold bolts and cracked the manifold up a bit to take the housing off. I have some one coming to buy the car tomarrow so I'm going to take the chance and reuse the intake manifold rubber gaskets. I did buy the thermostat. Thanks for the tip. Does any one have torque spec's on the intake manifold bolts and therm bolts?

When I did this job I tightened the bolts snugly then left them alone. I got the back bolts off without moving the manifold by using an 8mm crowfoot wrench. The key is not to overtighten, since you are putting bolts through a composite plastic material and you have to be mindful about not cracking it by overtightening the bolts.

After I put it back together I had no vacuum leaks or coolant leaks. And sold the car this morning. Thanks for every ones help. It was sad to see it go so cheep, I enjoyed this car more then most of the M-benz and BMW's I've had in the past. I did find a cheep 2001 S-type the other day that I mite purchase, the only problem is it has a V6 in it.
