So I'm new to the forum I have a '67 that i think is in great condition, hasn't ran for years. A friend is trying to buy the car off me and i really don't know what it is worth. I understand that these cars are expensive to work on and I'm not very good at fixing cars myself. I'm posting some pictures and would love to just get some general advice. Additionally, its not costing me anything to hold on to but i hate to see such a nice car waste away in storage for any longer.
What you have there is a 420 ... and it appears to be a fairly nice one, too.
The 420G had some similarities, but was a much larger car. It, along with its older brother the MK X, share the distinction of being the largest standard Jaguars ever built.
Here is a 420G ... sorta looks like someone stuffed an air hose in a 420 and pumped it up a little!
Jaguar engineers always used to say the XJ saloon of 1968 was a Mark 10 (420G) with the air let out !! Actually if you look at the Mark 10 there is something in that. However, whilst it is based on the S-type saloon of 1964, for me the smaller 420 has the closest similarity in style to the XJ, at least from the front, anyway.
Thanks for the feedback. He actually had some personal issue change and is not going to get the car. Maybe i'll work on it one day in the future. Thanks for the information.
