Im going for a.closer look at the 66 mark ten on wednesday, price is right,
What are the weak spots to check? Car does not run, engine is dismantled, but not worried about that, apparently there are no seats either, but which tells me i should have unrestricted view of floors!
What am i looking for guys???
Rust. When I started looking at Mark 10s the few I looked at this price range had no floors. They were gone. Including the trunk. If you are planning on resurrecting the car, that is your number 1 concern. #2 will be all the woodwork. There are over 42 individual wood pieces in that car and you will not be able to source that. Engine and the DG tranny are easy to get parts for,so no issue there (assuming, of course, that the block and cylinder head are rebuildable).
+1
There are no body panels available for these cars, you have to make everything yourself, or get somebody to do it. If there are no seats, then again, a problem as I don't think seats from the other cars will fit. Mechanical stuff has lots of commonality with the other saloons.
I went out early to check out the car, no trunk floor, huge hole.in passenger side floor, , pretty much just a parts car, so i passed, and now that i have, i will let you guys know. nice of me huh? Lol. Car is a 66 engine is there, looks super clean inside plus has the triple su setup on it, has huge ac sytem on rear parcel shelf, all body panels.are very straight with no signs or rust or repair, i had owner down to 800 he then dropped to 7 when i was walking away, again this is a great parts car! All.wood is there and intact (although weathered). Car is in orlando on letgo.
Unlike if you rebuilt an XK sports car, with these cars you can spend a fortune but the value will never be great. These cars were never popular when new, and quickly disappeared from the used car market.
