As far as I can determine the MK7 and MK7M grilles were the same.
The earliest MK7s that came to Australia had the semaphore signals on the "B" pillar. I had one of them, it was my first Jag in 1963 and it also had the low compression 7:1 engine.( the engine number was A5474-7 ; How's that for memory?)
I am not sure about the MK7 separate turn indicators. It may have been dictated by changing Australian government requirements.
As an example MK5s delivered to Australia had semaphore indicators but MK5s delivered to Canada had separate turn indicators.
I acquired a left hand drive MK5 which had been imported to Australia by a Canadian who emigrated here. It had separate turn indicators which was original equipment and that was confirmed in the workshop manual.
Until we can date this car I think we will have to leave the MK7 or MK7M question in abeyance.
cheers

Thanks, Bill.
I meant the round grilles where spotlights were originally mounted.
My brother had a MKVII and I remember the old semaphore arms (they were so funny) although it was many years ago. As you say, most likely the plethora of different rules across the various markets.
An uncle also had a MKIX, and that was definitely like Blenheim Palace inside

Although the early sales brochures show some sort of spotlights where the round grilles were I have never seen them actually fitted to a MK7.
I suspect the spotlights were "additional equipment" available on ordering the car
I drove a couple of MK7s as daily drivers from 1963 to 1979 and both of those cars had the round grilles.
The round grilles on this car were pretty tatty however I found a couple of grilles in reasonable condition in my MK1 bits and pieces and donated them to the cause.
Cheers

My car is an early model. '51, It has the driving lights and the only turn signals will be the small lamps in the tops of the fenders. I haven't done anything with the electrical system except to spin the motor. I plan to add additional turn signal and tail lamps. I like the small round tail lamps but I think that it could use some more lighting. That's still a ways off.
