Hi Eric,

Welcome to the Jaguar Forums! It's great to have you with us!

I have moved your posts from the forum for the modern S-Type to the forum for the Mark V - X through 420G. Here you will find knowledgeable members who will be happy to help.

I have also deleted from your post your personal contact information. It is never a good idea to post such info in a public forum where identity thieves and other bad actors may make ill use of it. This forum has a Private Message function that you will be able to use once you have fulfilled the undisclosed minimum requirements of full membership.

Finally, please visit the New Member Area - Intro a MUST and post a required introduction so we can learn something about you and your Jaguar and give you a proper welcome.

Cheers,

Don

Hi Eric You,
I have a couple of questions for you and a comment.
First you either have a 420G or a 420. There isn't a XJ420. The 420G is a large saloon (sedan) the 420 is a smaller saloon base off of the 3.8S/3.4S also know as the S-type. The S-type is a highly modified MKII with independent rear suspension.

Being you state that its a 1967 420 I will guess that it is the 420 and not the 420G since the 420 was only built from 8/1966 to I believe May of 68. Does your vin start with P1F or 1F? if yes you have a 420 and your questions should be in the MKI / MKII S type 240 340 & Daimler forum. I wish they would add the 3.8S/3.4S and 420 to the title.

So your engine is basically the same as the 420G/E-type engine of those years except for the carbs intake manifolds, exhaust manifolds, oil pan ECT. you don't say if you have a manual or auto trans, please fill us in. Why do you want/need to rebuild the engine and trans? You should get a shop manual and parts book from the JCNA website.

By chance is your car maroon, white interior, auto, A/C, wire wheels and from Canada? If yes, I know a little bit about the car. It was owned by a man named Joe who lived in Quebec/Ontario. I believe he bought it in Florida. I would have to see if I still have the emails about the car. Anyway you are in the right place to learn more about your car.

Hi Fraser,
If this is the car I am thinking of, it was a running & driving car when I talked to the owner with the original engine and trans.

I guess we'll have to wait for the OP to give more details about the car and what he needs.
