Default Mk8 Resto petrol flaps

Hello good people.
I am very frustrated getting the 2 bolts back into position that hold the petrol filler flaps in place.
anyone have any idea what tool or method is needed here please.

The bolts go right into the bowels of the overflow area.

Hello DB
those bolts are terrible to fit. If I remember correctly I used an adhesive to hold them in the holes on the lid, then carefully inserted the lid into position.
patience is the key. Success is your reward

Default Mk8 success

Hi Mike, thought you might respond to that issue. Many thanks. I was thinking of supergluing something onto the bolts to get them to start but ended up getting a Makita magnetic short shanked 8mm driver socket. 8mm fits those imperial size bolts perfectly. Had the job done in 5 mins but spent a few hours working out what to do!
just finished headlining and trialed fitting some pieces of wood. Trial fitted rear seats. A friend remade the hand holds in leather!

original leather renovated nicely! I had forgotten how comfy those seats are!
