Description:

Times come to give up on my XJR, I`ve had it for nearly 13 years, but not used it for over 2, & I don't have the time or inclination to sort it out any more, especially as its not ULEZ compliant & therefore I wont be able to use it come October anyway.

What it needs for an MOT:
Predictably, welding! Both sills, mostly around jacking points & a bit at the front of the floorpan behind the NS wheel.
NSF rigid Brake pipe cracked & seeping (pair of genuine replacements supplied). Still brakes for loading purposes, but you wouldn't wanna stamp on them..
One engine mount & a gearbox mount spring.
Both front tyres (both cracked, one has a slow puncture).
OS track rod end (replacement supplied).

As far as I know, that's it for the MOT.

Other stuff it needs.
Paint! Lacquer crazing/peel on the roof & boot. The bonnet was peeling too, & I wrapped it a few years ago but the wraps since bubbled & cracked, so looks terrible.
Both front wings have the usual rust behind the wheel, drivers side especially, & that ones also dented as per the second picture (done by a passing van while parked).

Various other marks to the bodywork. a few small bubbles on the rear arches & under the OSR light. You`d ideally respray, or wrap the whole thing.
The heater pump is dead, so no hot air (another supplied).
Headlining droops in the traditional way.
"Low Brake Fluid" warning displayed most of the time, but it isn't low.
Occasional "Low Coolant" warning, but again, it isn't (hasn't used water while I`ve had it).
One headlight mount was broken when the wing was hit, was then wedged to stay steady.

I think that's it.

Its done just over 125,000 miles & has always been reliable in the 13 years I`ve had it, much like my previous XJ`s. It refused to start after 20 months of sitting idle a few months back, turned out the petrol pumps had seized, so they`ve now been replaced with good used genuine ones, it now starts on the button & runs fine again.

Mechanically its wonderful, runs really well. Before you ask, I don't know if the tensioners have been done, or, if they have, with which type. Its never given me any indication there was a problem with them, so I left well alone. The previous owner was the director of a chain of bowling alleys & bingo halls, but not being mechanically minded, didn't know about stuff like that, he just took it for its service & MOT every year & told them to do whatever needed doing. He also didn't save service history receipts (being a company car). The full book pack is there though, including the service book.  According to the service book, everything was done at Hartwell Jaguar from new till 2004 (10k, 20k, 31k, 47k, 52k), then a couple of other garages (61k, 71k, 82k), 90 isn't stamped for some reason, then the last service he had was March 2008 (@100,000 miles at "Greencats" Jaguar specialist in Colchester. I got it in late 2008 with around 110k on the clock, I`ve serviced it twice while I`ve had it, once as soon as I got it & again at about 120k, including new genuine iridium plugs last time. Its now done just over 125k & could do with another oil change after being sat for so long, & a pair of belts (possibly included, cant remember if I got them or not!). I also fitted a K&N panel filter when I got it.

Doesn't leak any fluids (zero oil under it after it sat for 2 years), doesn't use water, uses a tiny amount of oil between services, but nothing worth worrying about.

Really, I have no concerns with it mechanically, I`d fully expect it to do another 50k+ without issue, & 2 local Jaguar specialists have also commented on how well it runs, one also put it on his diagnostic & was amazed at how clear the computers were, & it still hits 60 in the low 5`s with no complaint! 😁

Suspension-wise, it has had the odd front bush while I`ve had it, might need more now, I honestly don't remember if there were any rattles at the front & I`ve not driven it for a long time, it was tramlining a bit due to the track rod end, I do remember the foam top rear shock bushes were getting tired, & so did rattle on some surfaces. Wasn't horrific, but they do need doing really.

Interior is very good, some negligible wear to the drivers outer bolster, easily re-coloured. Wood is nice, carpets all nice, windows, remote locking/alarm, electric seats, mirrors, stereo etc all work fine, & has a working Parrot hands free kit. There is a bit of pixel bleed on the LED mileage display (still fully visible), & the auto-dim fluid has gone funny on the interior mirror. Only the droopy headlining & lack of hot air to deal with really.  It has 2 black keys, 2 remote fobs (one has tired buttons) & the green valet key.

Also has a detachable genuine Jaguar tow bar, I`ve used it twice to tow a mates caravan a total of about 8 miles, was effortless as you would expect.

I`d like £1995 including the parts mentioned, this is basically the price of a good used engine.

Its in Edgware, HA8 (near the hospital), outer north London. It is SORN`d, & the MOT ran out last October (was on a Boris extension), + there's the  brake pipe leak, so will need towing.
