For sale is my lovely 1983 Jaguar XJS V12. I have driven it for years, often for restaurants, school, and work. However, as I continue my studies, I need to sell part of my car collection to pay for graduate school on the East Coast. It is one of the greatest cars I have ever owned, with an awesome howling and screaming Le Mans winning V12, and a timeless style that literally superseded the E-Type. People stare at it, and every-time I see or hear it, I want to drive it too!

Here’s your chance to own a side-piped V12, with a lot of work already performed on it, as well as from a non-smoking Jaguar enthusiast home and household. Comes with clean California title.

FULL DISCLOSURE KNOWN ISSUES:

This is a 41-year old Jaguar which does run, and even after thousands have been invested in it, it still needs substantial work, and as such is reflected in the price of the vehicle. A future owner with mechanical savvy and patience for older Jaguars is likely to understand this best.

    • Gasket leaks: Oil, coolant, power steering, exhaust, and transmission leaks, common on older Jags. Can get smokey when oil is burning off.
    • Runs hot, overheated once, but still drives. I performed a combustion gases test, however, no gases were detected in coolant, so the head gasket is likely still good. (No bubbles in coolant, no tapping or knocking, and the engine still runs). The main issue is the aforementioned leaks above, which again to address is reflected in the price of the vehicle.
    • Engine requires warm-up, and until this occurs, there is hesitation. RPMs generally need to reach 2,000 RPM to accelerate faster, else-wise acceleration is poor. Likely attributable to back-pressure lost due to exhaust leaks.

    • Trunk latch broken, but still locks shut
    • Cruise control does not work
    • Sometimes door windows and A/C unit is intermittent on start-up, usually after vehicle sits a long time; likely a voltage issue (common on older Jags).
    • Rear suspension struts could use replacement, rides low when fully loaded with three people (yes three people fit, I’ve done this)!
