Apologies I haven't contacted you yet, been meaning too, but three kiddos have been keeping me on the run.
I'd like to drop by to see your ride and discuss tuning options sometime soon.
Saw that the Katy Market Day this weekend (Sat. 20th), is featuring a British only car show. I believe the Market Days events run from 10am - 4pm. I'm planning on going and parking for a while, unless it's pouring rain. Hope they have a decent participation. It's hard enough to get old British cars running on a warm, sunny day, and we've got forecast for scattered showers this weekend. Let me know if any chance you might drop by.
Also, I'm signed up to run in the Texas Mile event, next weekend in Victoria.
Good to hear I'm not alone out here. I coming from a CTS-V Wagon that was stolen back in June. The Jag is a bit of an adjustment for me, and the enthusiast community for it is a bit smaller.
What part of Katy are you in? I'm in Pin Oak Village, and would love to meet up soon and learn more about your tuning efforts.
Hi clubairth1. We both run Magnaflow hi flow cats. I used the 2.5" inlet outlet cats, you have the 2.25" inlet/outlet cats. After the cats I run Magnaflow's Tru-X center muffler (built in x-pipe). Did you retain the stock rear mufflers? My point is: I love the overall sound of this beast but can't bear the interior drone. I had to use 18" glasspacked tube mufflers prior to a pair of turbo mufflers to bring it down a notch but she still drones too loud. Been contemplating Magnaflows cats that have 400 cells per sq. inch, wich are double of what we use now, just to quiet her down, or pop on stock mufflers or what's a direct fit for them. Is your STR quiet inside during cruise, against a load like uphill, with the Magnaflow hi-flow cats?
My mechanic seems to think the stock STR boost is somewhere around 6-8 psi. I have no idea where he get his info though, but He is an avid hot rodder and drives a Ford Lightning (supercharged F150) I just don't really have anything to post at the moment except that my fuel pump quit a few days ago. I'm not going to try to repair
that. Actually, I wouldn't have the guts to do the work I've done without my neighbor.
He's willing to jump into anything, but he got pretty worn out replacing the engine. :-)
Hey Clubairth1 = I'm still here, but we've been working out some kinks. The Snake Bite increased my blower output to 14 psi as best we can tell right now, but we are
doing considerable additional testing and data logging. We have discovered a new
way to get a custom tune without going to some unknown "person" who supposedly
is an expert, but you have to go through a forum member so he can take a slice off
the top. I'm not interested in that deal. I will post when I have positive results. Still
have not dynoed, but will later.
