    Hi Bob,
I'm new to the Jag family and new to this forum. I recently bought an early 1995 XJR - it's a bit of a barn find (one that hadn't been on the road in 12 years).
After getting it running, the check engine light lit up - and the dreaded TPS no signal code.

I ordered a new TPS from Jag and installed it. It's all back together now and my idle is at 1500 - after much searching it seems all fingers pointing to the adaptation of the TPS.

I saw your post (https://www.jaguarforums.com/forum/g...18-5-a-255013/) where you mentioned to one of the members you could provide access to the IDS118.5 software. At this point, as a newbie, I don't meet your criteria of having a sufficient number of posts ;-) Would you be willing to share the IDS with me? At this point, I'm assuming there are no commercially available scanners that can do a TSP adaptation on this car.

Thanks in advance and nice making this virtual acquaintance.

    Jim

    Hi,

Sorry that I take some of your time, but I messed up trying to help my friend. I have an old car that the key got stuck in the ignition barrel, and I was able to get it out using WD-40 dry lube. Then, as a preventive measure, I told my friend I would spray her 98 XK8 convertible with a bit of lube. But, to my bad luck, the red tube got stuck. I tried to get out with a small screwdriver and it broke inside!! The car is inside her garage!!! I did some research and noticed the ignition barrel has a pin, which I can Dremel out. If I do that, could I pull the barrel via the stuck red tube and pray that it comes out without the plastic red tube breaking? Does the dealer sell the barrel? I went today to the dealer but the parts were closed. I have seen used barrels on eBay. Would they work? Would you happen to know if the car needs re-programming? I would appreciate any tips on getting myself out of this one.

I thank you for all the info that you have posted. Right now I have a problem with the transmission fill. I can't get it open. Would like to know what size t to use? I tried to use T-50. Seems not really tight fitting. Also really hard to loosen. I don' want to damage it. Would really appreciate an help. Thanks for whatever information you can give. That was for 2002 Jaguar XJ8

Technically the later AJ27 engines have different internal oil pump, oil pickup tube, oil structural sump, timing components and intake cam sprockets. NONE of that will make any difference to the wire harness or any external components bolted to the engine.

You could not swap SOME internal engine bits but as a whole, all AJ27 engines will bolt into the engine bay of any AJ27 car and work fine.

message too long and needs second page

Hi bob I recently posted about putting a engine in a 2000 VDP you had said any AJ27 engine would drop in. all the junk yards that I have contacted are telling me 2002-2003 engines have a different block so they wont fit. I would rather trust your opinion as you know what you are talking about not someone on a desk looking at a screen. If you could advise further I would appreciate it thank you Julian Brooks jrb53

I only went to Jaguar training for models up to 2004 and left the dealer in 2006. I don't work on later cars so I don't have experience with the Tire Pressure Monitor System.

    Sorry.
